The unique bathing system for immobile patients
BagBath® has since 1996 been the most utilized system for bathing and cleaning of immobile patients and patients with special needs.  BagBath® is used when daily washing or cleaning of the patient is not possible due to immobility.
BagBath® replaces the traditional bedbath with soap and water.
It was developed in 1996 and is use in the Acute Care, Nursing Homes and Homecare environments around the World.

The BagBath® system consists of a re-sealable pouch with eight (8) washing cloths that contains the most skinfriendly washing ingredients available today. The pouch can be heated in microwave or in hot water, or be cooled depending on the patients needs.
 
Use one cloth for each of the areas shown in the diagram on the pouch.

The cloths are designed for patient specific use after the required washing method to prevent cross contamination.
After each use the cloths are disposed to prevent cross contamination.

Most soaps affects the skin's pH, usually for adults lies in the range between 4.5 and 5.5. This pH is an effective antimicrobial barrier. Furthermore, when we age, our skin will suffer a significant reduction in lipids, and our skin is at risk to dryness, scaling and eczema. BagBath® does not remove the protective layer call acid Mantle.

It has been estimated that 59% to 75% of elderly has a pre-excistens of scaling /pruritic skin conditions (Eliopoulos, 1988; Franz & Kinney, 1986; Parnet 1985; Tinadall & Smith, 1963).
 
Research has also shown that the combination between dryness and scaling of the skin and the incidence of development of pressure ulcers.
(Guralnik, Harris, White, et al, 1988).

With BagBath® you preserve the natural acid mantle, which helps to protect the skin.

The ingredients in BagBath® are unique and improve skin condition for patient and care giver.

BagBath® contains no soap or alcohol, which leave harmful residues on the skin that can cause dryness or decomposition.

BagBath® Design and function - an alternativ to soap
Instead of using soap, skin can be as cleaned as effectively with the use of surfactants (Surface Active Agent). Surfactant F-68 was chosen as the primary skin cleaner in BagBath® .
 
Dr. Rodeheaver, published at symposia on advanced wound care in 1988, that:"F-68 has been identified to be as tissue-friendly as normal saline”.  The F-68 is safe and without risk to use on human skin.
 
These results together with other studies shows that F-68 is bio compatible surfactant, and is used as skin cleanser in BagBath®.

BagBath® is the only product produced in cleanroom environment
BagBath® is produced in cleanroom GMPC, this secures the product is clean without bacterial contamination. This secures both the caregiver and the patient against contamination.
During production is BagBath® tested according to European Pharmacopoeia 2nd Category
